Oooh boy the match-up of the century is finalized. Rico Verhoeven vs. Badr Hari will take place at the König Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. Pretty close from where I live. Actually, it’s exactly a 1 hour drive… sometimes you’re lucky right!

GLORY COLLISION” is what the event is called, headlined by current Heavyweight Champion of the world: “The Prince of Kickboxing” Rico Verhoeven vs. “Bad Boy” Badr Hari. Rico Verhoeven (48-10, 12 KO), is currently working on a 11-fight winning streak while Badr Hari (106-12, 93 KO), won his past 5 fights in a row. Verhoeven is fit and always ready, while Badr has to train his ass of to get in the best shape of his life. Though… Badr’s record is astonishing. 106 wins, from which are 93 by KO!

Technique vs. Ko power

We all know Rico is a very technical fighter, not necessarily a knockout artist. To me, this doesn’t say he isn’t an attractive fighter. I personally prefer watching a well trained athlete scoring in a technical fight rather than a “Morosanu” type fighter who’s swinging the whole time. I like to be surprised, or to learn while I watch a fight. It has to be like a good movie to me.

Badr is an exceptionally talented fighter. The guy was a technical genius in his early days who later on exchanged technique for brutal power in my opinion. The Badr Hari vs. Remy Bonjasky fight from the year 2007, is still one of the best fights I’ve ever seen from him.

I hope we’re going to see the old Badr Hari back in December. The Badr who mixed up lighting fast combinations, combined with an aggressive fighting style. Rico first has to fight Anderson Silva from Brazil at GLORY 33 New Jersey this Saturday. Badr only trains for GLORY COLLISION and has no other fight scheduled in between as far as I know.

I’m absolutely pumped for this one already. I’m definetely a big fan of both fighters. Two typical Dutch stylists who go to war, what more could you possibly ask for?!
